In a world full of social media, and behind the screen access to watch, monitor, like and/or comment; people have the ability to express themselves with no filter.
Do not get me wrong, I am for the 1st Amendment and very much support everyone's right to freedom of speech, however, social media seems to be taking away people's ability to evaluate there words and actions; taking away the thought process and making it the reactionary process.
Back in the day, when something bothered you, you were not able to post it, comment, and let the world know what you were thinking at the very moment you felt it. Now, we have the capability to instantaneously react to anything and everything; this can be good and bad.
The instant access to media allows us to express, comment, and respond immediately, but it has taken away people's thoughtfulness, reasonablness, and processing of acts and information.
For example, with a simple click of a button, you can indicate that you like or dislike something. It seems simple, just a reaction or a thought, but because of social media and the feeling of separation and feeling as though we are behind this invisible social media wall, we forget that there is a person on the other side of that click, that there are feelings that react, respond, and feel emotion to that click.
Hate = Enter
Hate has become as simple as pressing the enter button.
We are losing our humanity. I am saddened to see it, watch it, witness it, and hear it all too often, every single day.
I hope people start to think about what they say, how they comment, how they react, how they treat others, and take a moment to truly think and see what is happening. We are all a cause and a part of this world that has been created. We are all to blame.
Therfore, WE, are what needs to bring back the love and erase the hate.
We live in a world where information, thoughts, opinions, and ideas are passed along via tweets, likes, comments, facebook, instagram, youtube, snapchat, etc. by a blink of an eye. I think that if people were to just take a minute to evaluate, process, and think before they react, we may stop some of the hate that is out there.
Humanity is starting to only see division based on color, race, sexuality, and religion. Humanity is the human race, that means all humans; everyone of all creeds, races, nationalities, religion, sexual orientation, and cultures. We are one, but the world I see today identifying people as, them, us, and they.
I hope that humanity can find salvation because the way that people are treating one another, shows a lack of value for life, love, and caring for one another.
My personal opinion is that Social Media has ruined much of what was good about society. Yes, it is a great way to share information and ideas quickly, but in turn, it is an easy and fast way in order to spread any message; hate being at the top of that list.
I remember the days when people would sit around and talk, play board games, and have conversations with the people in the room; or even go outside and play! Now, we all have are faces in our phones, which is great because we can stay in contact with more people, but the disemmination of information has become so fast that people go through a spectrum of emotion within seconds in stead of minutes and hours.
There is always good and bad to everything.Just like all good things, it is always best in moderation.
Remember: Next time before you click that enter button, to think about what you are saying, how it will effect others and how it will make you look. Love is hard to come by, but hate is easy. That is why loving takes more time, thought, and consideration.
WHAT TYPE OF COVERAGE DO YOU HAVE?
We at the Accident Lawyer of California, P.C., see this every single day.
When we talk with a potential client, we ask them during their free over the phone interview or when they come in for a free in person consultation about their own personal car insurance coverage. This matters because many times if the at fault party does not have insurance or adequate coverage, the client must use their own insurance.
Therefore, it is best to know what your coverage entails.
Many times when I ask a potential client, what coverage they have, they answer me with, "I have full coverage." Well that is nice and all, but to many that means different things.
To an attorney, "full coverage" means the works, however, as I have come to notice, client's do not have that same understanding. To an attorney, "full coverage" means, there are no holes in your insurance policy and it covers you for any and everything.
Well, to a potential client, "full coverage" definitely has a different meaning. For some and for most from what I have experienced, it means just have liability insurance to protect ones self if you personally cause the accident. For others, it means you have the bare minimum to allow a person to drive a vehicle in the state of California.
So let me explain to you what full coverage should mean.
Full coverage means:
1. You have liability insurance, even if it is the bare minimum, $15,000.00 per person, $30,000.00 per accident, $5,000.00 property damage. Just a point of clarification for those who do not know what liability insurance means, it means, if you caused they accident you are liable and your insurance will pay for the damages caused up to the limits you have paid for to be covered.
2. You have comprehensive collision coverage. This means, that your own insurance will repair your vehicle, no matter who is at fault, you or the other party. Comprehensive means complete or including all. Usually, there is a deductible you will have to pay unless you have paid for a deductible waiver as part of you policy.
3. You have Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist coverage. Underinsured means that if other party does not have a policy that makes you whole for your loses, your own insurance will come into play and be used as an extra on top of the other insurance's policy, if the maximum has been offered from the at fault insurance carrier. Uninsured means that if the at fault party does not have insurance, then your own insurance Uninsured policy will act as the 3rd party insurance policy which becomes accessible to make the injured party whole.
4. You have Uninsured Motorist Property Damage Coverage. This means that if the at fault party does not have insurance, your insurance company will access its this policy to cover any property damage loses due to the lack of coverage from the at fault party.
5. You have Medical Payment Coverage. This means that your own automobile insurance has a set aside dollar amount that is accessible for medical expenses. "Medpay" as it is called is accessible by the client when they have sustained an injury as a result of the accident, prior to the claim being settled with the 3rd party or accessible if you are an at fault party, however, you have still suffered an injury as a result of the accident.
6. You have Gap Insurance. This means that you are covered for the full value of your vehicle/purchase price, once you drive off the lot and the value is immediately diminished because now the car is considered used. For example, saw you bought a brand new car for $40,000.00, you drive it off the lot and a few miles down the road you get into a car accident which totals your car. The appraiser comes out and inspects your, and says the car is worth $37,000.00. Well I am sure you may chuckle and tell them, no it is worth $40,000.00, I just bought this car. Well, without gap insurance, you personally would be on the hook for that $3,000.00 difference. Lucky for you, you made sure to get gap insurance as part of your "full coverage."

I am pretty sure most people will agree that Los Angeles drivers are among the worst drivers around, in the United States, and when it rains, it literally pours with horrendous driving conditions, extreme traffic, and car accidents.
The largest issue I believe is that drivers do not change their driving style when it rains, therefore, making their questionable decisions during dry conditions, that much more dangerous and extremely questionable. Just imagine if it snowed in Los Angeles, Ca.
What people need to realize is that when it rains, the oils that are on the streets come up to the surface. Thus, making the surface more slick, and also, the rain itself makes hydroplaning more likely, especially depending on individual tire treads and wear.
Accident Lawyer of California asks that all drivers out there be extra cautious and realize the importance of safe driving to protect one another. Realize that you are driving a 2000 plus pound weapon and on water, it is more dangerous, with less control.
DEFENSIVE OR OFFENSIVE DRIVERS
Primarily, I would say LA drivers are the worst because everyone is in a hurry and everyone is an aggressive driver. What happened to defensive driving?
I would call aggressive driving, people who speed up to try and make every yellow light before it changes to red, or those who are at a left turn light waiting to make a left, but that have to yield to traffic, and will run a red light to make there left or fail to yield to on coming traffic, and turn prematurely, and assume that the car with the right of way will stop at the yellow. Yielding will prevent accidents and keep you and your loved ones safe
I would define defensive driving as protective driving; making sure that you and the people in your car are as safe as possible and you, as the driver, are not a contributing factor to potential accidents. Examples of defensive driving would be stopping at that yellow light, yielding and maybe waiting for the next light change to make that left turn, and dare I say having patience.
What is Uninsured/Underinsured motorists?
Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury will pay for damages when a covered person is injured and the person at fault for the accident does not have liability insurance.
Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury will pay for damages when a covered person is injured and the person at fault for the accident does not have enough liability insurance.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Property Damage will pay for damages when a covered vehicle is damaged and the person at fault for the accident does not have liability insurance or does not have enough liability insurance.
Why should you have underinsured and uninsured motorists coverage?
Very simple; to protect yourself against those grossly negligence and careless drivers out there that drive without are car insurance or minimum coverages; who do not care who pays for your medical bills, property damage, and pain and suffering that are a direct result of their actions.
As of 2012, 14.7% of drivers in California are uninsured!!! Are you willing to take that chance?
Underinsured and uninsured motorist coverage applies from as simple as the at fault party does not have insurance to you are in a traumatic, devastating accident where the at fault insurance policy does not have enough coverage to cover all your medical expenses.

We live in a world where people are always trying to save money and cut corners. Most people I talk to or run into, do not even know what coverage they have, and they constantly mistaken full coverage as comprehensive coverage.
My greatest advice to you is that you are aware of what coverage you have and what they each mean. If you are unsure, either speak with your insurance agent or call Accident Lawyer of California, and we will review your policy and try to guide you and explain your coverage.
Why pay for it, if you are not going to use it when you are able too?
Many clients are hesitant to go through there own insurance or touch there insurance when it comes to accidents.
Firstly, let me make it clear that the reason you have car insurance is for your convenience, and to protect you.
Secondly, if you are in an accident and and your attorney advises you that you are able to go after your uninsured or underinsured policy, you should attempt to do so. The reason is simple; the entire reason you are paying a higher premium on your insurance coverage is that you have asked for such coverage and protection. If you are not going to use the coverage when it applies, then you either need a better understanding of your insurance coverage or you need to forego that coverage.
I personally think it is best to have the best possible insurance coverage to protect oneself, and ones assets for the unforeseeable.
Does my premium go up if I use my uninsured / underinsured motorist?
You are paying a monthly, bi-annually, or yearly premium that already has the coverage you have asked for in the plan. Therefore, your premium pays for the coverage when used.
There may be other factors that cause your insurance premium to go up, for example, too many accidents during a coverage period, because you are a higher liability for the insurance companies, however, using your coverage for when you are a not at fault party does not increase premiums.
If you are still uncertain, please call your local insurance agent for more details.

As our legislation has moved forward to protect it's citizens and all drivers on the road with laws against texting, the public has become more and more careless about texting and driving.
I am amazed at how often I see people driving and texting, driving and eating, driving and shaving, driving and doing their makeup, etc. Do not get me wrong, we are all guilty of at least one of these.
My greatest concern and what should be the greatest concern for all those who take the road, is that you understand the responsibility and privilege you have been given by being allowed to drive.
By being able to operate a motor vehicle, the State of California is entrusting each individual with driving a 2000 pound plus steel object; that should be taken more seriously than I believe people are taking it.
I recall when I was first starting to learn to drive a car how petrified my parents were, and how they would flinch, grab the door handle, and hit that imaginary brake below their feet.
My dad always told me, "Driving a car is like holding a loaded gun." I truly believe this to be true. The damage that someone can do to another individual with a car can be devastating and life changing, just like shooting another person can be.
I would like to share with you some interesting facts in regards to texting or being distracted while driving:
- Almost 25% of auto collisions involved the use of a cell phone, which resulted in 1.3 million crashes.
- The minimum amount of time your attention is away from the road when you are texting and driving is 5 seconds! Meaning that if you are traveling 55 MPH, you have driven the length of a football field without looking at the road.
- Text Messaging makes a crash up to 23 times more likely!!!!!!
- The number of people killed everyday due to accidents that involved the driver being distracted as a result of eating, texting, or using a cell phone is 9! Even one person killed by this is too many!
Comparison of Texting to being Drunk
- Texting while driving results in you being 6 times more likely to cause an accident than driving intoxicated! (Accident Lawyer of California is not advocating you drink alcohol and drive or texting and driving at all!)
- Driving while texting equates to driving after having 4 beers.
I hope you all take these statistics very seriously and realize the importance of not texting and driving, and taking responsibility for the safety of yourselves, those in your car, and the others you share the roadway with.
As we all know, there are laws against texting and driving in California. However, they are clearly not being taken seriously. People still text and drive, use their cellphone without a Bluetooth connection or hands free device.
I believe that it is time for there to be more serious action taken to prevent anyone from being able to text and drive. For example, installing some type of software in all phones that will not allow you to use your typing feature for text messaging while the vehicle is moving or when the car has been started, and that cannot be deactivated by the telephone user.
I believe that more severe punishment or fines should be given to those who text and drive or surf the internet and drive, while on Facebook or using Snapchat while operating a car.
Driving is an exercise in trust for all those around us, therefore, we should take the privilege seriously and our lives and the lives of others just as seriously as holding a gun to another persons head, with the ability to pull the trigger.
I am not willing to risk the lives of my family or anyone to send a text message or check a status, when all that can wait a few minutes or even an hour. Not checking a message or a Facebook status is not the end of the world, however, causing injury or death to yourself or others on the road very well could be.
We at Accident Lawyer of California strive to help those victims who have suffered from the negligence of others that results in a personal injury auto accident.
